Le Cirque de la Nuit presents:WONDROUS

April 06th, 2019 – Sold Out Show – Palace Theatre, Calgary, AB

Wondrous is the long-awaited return to the Calgary stage of the highly anticipated signature productions that Le Cirque De La Nuit have become known for.  Bringing together the best in custom theatrical performances and musical talent, all through the theme “Down the Rabbit Hole”, this show will feature a multitude of stunning showcases: including a cast of 30 characters that will intertwine with live vocalists, a pop-up tea party of couture, acrobatic acts in the sky, a Cyr wheel battle, circus wonders, break-dancers, belly dancers, and burlesque numbers featuring so many amazing local performers! These mesmerizing performances will take place on a highly designed stage which will be fully themed with Le Cirque de la Nuit’s custom props and extensive décor. This fully immersed experience will allow the patrons to visually fall into a journey of a lifetime.

The evening’s live sounds will be presented by a stellar line up of musical genius that is sure to keep the dance floor busy from start to finish.  UK based Featurecast (Jalapeño Records / Jungle Cakes / Ghetto Funk), has been synonymous with the groove and funk for quite a few years now, during which he has been on a mission to funk his way across the globe with his own style of DJ’ing, bringing mid-tempo Breaks, Hip Hop, Funk, House, Drum & Bass and downright dirty Bass together in his own remarkable way.  Also hitting the stage, is a talented group that share a love of improvised music, funk, soul, disco, afrobeat, and reggae, and it was their jam that sparked a movement which has evolved into an 8-piece dance party called Freak Motif. This talented live act, who hail from both Montreal and Calgary, are a Le Cirque De La Nuit favourite and have some rabbit tricks up their sleeve for their highly anticipated return to our stage.  The music talent doesn’t end there with further performances by Smol, a local staple on the Calgary scene for over 10 years taking us on a journey of eclectic house and auditory adventures, live vocals by Deanne Matley (Montreal), and MC’ing throughout by Troo Knot.  Make sure to check out the sounds and profiles of the stellar line up on our event page; Wondrous.

Wondrous is a world that will be created with custom curated performances that will fill the room with awe. Daisy Deville will be bringing her sassiness to the stage with a burlesque piece that will light the room on fire. La Rouge Circus will be enticing the crowd with a sexy acrobatic dark and twisty performance. To end the story with a bang, Justin Dale will be joined by Noah Weigel in an explosive cyr wheel battle. Joined by 25+ more fully developed roles, make sure to get a picture with the Alice, the Red Knight, the Mad Hatter, or maybe one of the Jabberwockies’ in our professional quality photo booth.  Perhaps sexy dancing enchantresses or Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb are more your style, well they will surely be at the circus too.  We encourage all patrons to dress as their favourite Wondrous character, but of course with a touch of their inner circus freak.
